Sonoma

About halfway between Napa and Petaluma lies the small but significant town of Sonoma, where you’ll find an engaging blend of small-town charm and urban sophistication. In the midst of the breathtaking beauty of the Wine Country and rich with cultural heritage, Sonoma is the hub of the Sonoma Valley.

The city’s historic plaza is designed in the traditional style of a Mexican town. The town square is surrounded by the City Hall, Mission San Francisco Solano, and the Presidio of Sonoma. The entire plaza is a National Historic Landmark and is the focal point of the town. The town was named as a Preserve America Community in 2010. Year-round community festivals and celebrations attract locals and visitors to the picturesque center of town.

The robust agriculture of the area guarantees a very popular farmers market from April to October. Local restaurants are supplied with an abundance of fresh, organic produce. The fine wines of Sonoma Valley add to the many five-star restaurants you’ll find near the Plaza.

More than just a place for foodies and wine connoisseurs, Sonoma has fun to offer little ones as well. Sonoma TrainTown Railroad covers 10 acres with its quarter-scale train, petting zoo, carousel, and other amusement park rides. TrainTown claims to be one-fifth the size of Disneyland but twice the fun.
